It's bricks for sure!

first glimpse!

first glimpse!

When we were thinking about buying 62 Bow St, we were hoping that one of the walls would prove to have beautiful bricks beneath it, like the great little coffee place around the corner (but still in the same building.)  But we couldn't exactly bash into the wall before we signed on the dotted line! We're so happy to see the lovely little bricks peeking through the wall, and looking forward to seeing more of them very soon!

We can also see some bricks very near the top of the wall where we pulled tiles away. There's some very pretty molding hiding up there, too. Could it be original to the building? That would make it 115 years old!

1898 molding?

Down comes the ceiling

We spent the afternoon in the space with both doors open for a breeze. I think we met more neighbors in those 3 hours than we have in the last 4 years living here. Everyone was stopping by to find out what we were up to in the former J&S Cleaning building!

We're still waiting to figure out the contractor question, but one thing we know is that these ceiling tiles had to come down. Michael was on ladder duty, and I felt lucky to be sweeping and taking pictures. We haven't done much handy-work in our lives, but we're looking forward to doing what we can to get the green room ready to open as soon as possible.

Any idea what this brown mysterious box in the ceiling might have been? Ventilation? Communication? Floo Network Travel?
